LopeBase vs Looker Studio

Looker Studio is Google's free report builder. In April 2026 Google renamed it Data Studio again, so you will see both names. You drag charts onto a canvas, wire them to Google Analytics, Search Console, or hundreds of other sources, and share the report. LopeBase starts from the other end. The search, traffic, revenue, and uptime screens already exist for every product you run, and the work of spotting what changed is done for you.

How the pricing compares

Google's Data Studio page, checked October 2026, lists the self-service tier at no charge. Data Studio Pro, sold as a project subscription, is $9 per user per project a month, and Google notes the price per user depends on how long you subscribe. Pro starts with a 30 day free trial, and billing begins on its own when the trial ends. Pro is billed through Google Cloud.

For one site and one person, the free tier is hard to beat on price, and we would not pretend otherwise. If a single Search Console report is all you need, Looker Studio costs nothing.

The real cost shows up as time. Each report is something you design, and each site needs its own data sources. When a connector changes a field, or you launch a new product, the report is yours to fix.

LopeBase counts products. Free for one product. Studio is $29 a month for 3 products, Portfolio $99 for 10, and Agency $299 with no limit. A product's Search Console, Google Analytics, Bing, Stripe, and other sources all count as that one product, and a new workspace gets 14 days of Portfolio with no card.

Where each one is stronger

Where Looker Studio is stronger

  • Total layout controlA drag-and-drop editor with pixel-perfect or snap-to-grid canvases. Every chart, filter, and color is yours to set.
  • Reach across GoogleGoogle Ads, BigQuery, Sheets, and the rest of Google's data sit behind its own connectors, ready to blend with GA4 or Search Console.
  • Sheer range of sourcesGoogle says it connects directly to more than 1,400 data sources, including over 1,300 Community Connectors, and you can build your own.
  • Sharing and editing togetherShare a report with one person, a team, or anyone, and edit it with others in real time.
  • Price for one siteThe self-service tier is free.

Where LopeBase is stronger

  • Nothing to buildConnect with Google, pick each product's property, and the SEO tab and Analytics page fill in. No canvas, no fields to map.
  • Many sites as one listEvery product's search clicks on one screen, with a trend line each, so the one that dropped stands out.
  • The analysis is doneSearches on page two, page-one results clicked less than your own average, pages competing for the same search, and brand searches split from the rest.
  • Bing beside GoogleBing Webmaster Tools sits next to Search Console as its own row, never added in, since the two count differently.
  • More than searchRevenue from Stripe or Polar, uptime checks every 15 minutes, errors, and a site audit, for the same products.

The gap is between a tool for making reports and a tool that has already decided what to look at. Looker Studio will draw any chart you can describe. LopeBase draws fewer charts, but each one answers a question a founder asks every week: which product slipped, which searches are close to page one, and which pages get seen and skipped.

Which one to pick

Pick Looker Studio if

You need a report in your own layout, often for someone else: a stakeholder, a client, or a team screen. Or you blend Search Console with Google Ads, Sheets, or BigQuery, and you are happy to build and maintain it.

Pick LopeBase if

You run several products and want each one's Search Console, GA4, and Bing numbers checked for you every week, next to revenue and uptime, without building a report per site.

Looker Studio is the right call when the report itself is the product. If a client expects a branded monthly PDF built around their goals, or a finance lead wants GA4 conversions beside ad spend from Google Ads, a builder is what you need. It is also right when you have one site, plenty of time, and no budget.

LopeBase is the right call when the report is a chore standing between you and the work. With three or four products, a hand-built report per site means three or four sets of data sources, each needing care. LopeBase reads every property read-only and shows the same screens for all of them. When a GA4 property records no pageviews for 7 days, which usually means a tracking snippet broke in a deploy, it flags it under Needs attention rather than leaving a flat line for you to notice.

Using both

Plenty of people will. Both read your Google data with access that cannot change it, so connecting one does not affect the other. Keep Looker Studio for the custom report someone else reads, and use LopeBase for the weekly check you would otherwise do by opening each property in turn.

A common split: LopeBase finds the work, Looker Studio presents it. The SEO tab surfaces a page-two search worth an article, and the content autopilot can plan it. Weeks later, the client report in Looker Studio shows the clicks it earned.

If what you need to share is an SEO check rather than a full report, LopeBase can give you a read-only link to a site's audit, with its health score and top fixes. You can see who opened it and turn the link off at any time. See sharing the report in the help center.

Moving your Google data over

Nothing moves. LopeBase reads the same Google properties your reports already use.

  1. 01

List the Search Console and GA4 properties your Looker Studio reports read, one row per product.

  2. 02

In LopeBase, add a property for each product. See properties.

  3. 03

Press Connect with Google and sign in with an account that can see those properties. Search Console needs Restricted user access and GA4 needs Viewer. See connecting Google.

  4. 04

Pick each product's property. Add Bing Webmaster Tools too, since Looker Studio reports rarely include it.

  5. 05

For a chart you miss, build a custom dashboard from LopeBase's chart list. See building your own dashboard.

What does not carry over: calculated fields, blends, themes, and layouts. Those live in Looker Studio, and LopeBase does not import reports. Both tools show Search Console data about two days behind, because that is how Google reports it.

Questions

Is Looker Studio the same as Data Studio?

Yes. Google's release notes say it rebranded Looker Studio as Data Studio on April 16, 2026. Looker Studio Pro is now Data Studio Pro. Many guides still use the old name.

Is LopeBase a free Looker Studio alternative?

For one product, yes: LopeBase is free with no time limit, and the SEO and Analytics screens are already built. It is not a free report builder. If you want to design your own layouts, Looker Studio does more.

Will LopeBase's Search Console numbers match my reports?

They come from the same Google API. LopeBase uses Google's definitions of clicks, impressions, click rate, and position, and weights average position by impressions the way Google does. A report that averages positions a different way can show a different figure.

Can I build my own charts in LopeBase?

You can build custom dashboards by picking charts from LopeBase's list and ordering them, for one property or combined across all of them. You cannot write your own fields or design a free-form canvas.

Can LopeBase change anything in Google?

No. Search Console and Google Analytics are read-only. LopeBase never submits sitemaps or changes settings.

Can my AI agent read the same data?

Yes. The MCP server lets Claude, Cursor, or another agent read Search Console and GA4 data for every connected site, as aggregates and read-only.
