AI visibility tools, compared

An AI visibility tool, sometimes called a GEO or answer engine tool, asks AI assistants the questions your buyers ask and records whether the answers name you, who they name instead, and which sites they cite. Here are eight of them, each described from its own pricing and help pages as of October 2026, including the one we make, with what a small setup costs on each.

What actually sets them apart

Every tool here reports mentions and competitors. Four choices matter more than the feature lists.

  • How the answer is takenMost tools capture answers from each engine's own website, with live web search, close to what a visitor sees today. LopeBase asks models through their APIs with no web search, which records what the model itself knows. Notra and Ahrefs mix both.
  • Which enginesGoogle's AI Overviews and AI Mode, Perplexity, and Copilot matter if your buyers search there. Claude is an add-on or enterprise-only on several tools, and included on LopeBase.
  • Whose promptsMost track only the prompts you write. Semrush and Ahrefs also sell research across their own large prompt databases, so you can look up any brand without setting anything up.
  • How often, and what it countsDaily is standard. Prices count prompts, answers, checks, or credits, which decides what a second engine or a second product costs you.

What a typical small setup costs

One brand, 10 questions, and about three engines. This is the cheapest published way to run it on each tool, by our reading of each pricing page in October 2026. Monthly prices; most take 15 to 17% off for paying yearly.

ToolCheapest fitWhat you get, and the catch
Otterly.AILite, $29 a monthDaily on ChatGPT, Perplexity, Copilot, and AI Overviews. Adding Claude and Gemini makes it $67.
Ahrefs Brand RadarBasic prompt package, $50 a monthDaily on 3 of its 6 platforms uses about 900 of 2,500 checks. Claude uses 8 checks per update.
Peec AIStarter, $95 a monthDaily on 3 models, with room for 40 more prompts. Claude is on Enterprise only.
Semrush AI VisibilityAI Visibility Toolkit, $99 a monthDaily, 25 prompts, on ChatGPT, Google AI Mode, and Gemini, according to its help center.
NotraStarter, $100 a monthDaily on 3 models uses about 900 of 2,000 answers. One project.
AthenaHQStarter, $295 a monthDaily on 3 models uses about 900 of 3,600 responses. The free plan's 300 credits may cover a weekly test; the page does not say whether they renew.
ProfoundNot published for brandsAsk for a quote. Its free trial runs 50 prompts it chooses, for 7 days.
LopeBasePortfolio, $49 a month, or Studio, $19Weekly on ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini fits Portfolio's 2,000 credits; monthly fits Studio's 500. No daily schedule.

Add more products and the order changes. Peec AI, Notra, and Otterly.AI count projects, workspaces, or prompts per brand. LopeBase covers up to 15 products on Portfolio, and a weekly check of three products there costs at most about $20 of extra credits in a heavy month.

The tools

Otterly.AI

Otterly.AI types your prompts into each engine's website as a neutral user, from the country you choose, and checks every prompt daily. ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity, and Microsoft Copilot are included; Gemini, Google AI Mode, and Claude are paid add-ons priced by plan. Every plan gets share of voice, sentiment, cited links, unlimited competitors and seats, and CSV, JSON, and PDF exports. Standard adds an API, an MCP server, crawler analytics, and Looker Studio.

Lite is $29 a month for 15 prompts, Standard $189 for 100, and Premium $489 for 400, with 15% off yearly. There is a 14-day trial with no card, and no free plan. It cannot run a prompt on demand, and its help center says alerts are something you build through the API.

Who it fits: a small team or agency that wants daily numbers from the answers people see, at the lowest fixed price. More in LopeBase vs Otterly.AI.

Ahrefs Brand Radar

Brand Radar is two things. The first is a ready-made index: Ahrefs builds questions from real searches in its keyword database and runs them through AI Overviews, AI Mode, ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, and Copilot, so you can look up any brand's mentions and citations with no setup. Its pages put the size at over 500 million prompts. The chatbot data is refreshed monthly. The second is custom prompts, run daily, weekly, or monthly on the same platforms, plus Claude through its API with web search.

Custom prompts come with paid Ahrefs plans in small amounts, 150 checks a month on Lite at $129, or as packages on their own: $50 a month for 2,500 checks, $100 for 7,000, and $250 for 25,000, where one check is one prompt on one platform in one location. The AI index starts at $199 a month for one platform, or $699 for all. It reports mentions, citations, and share of voice; we found no sentiment score in Brand Radar itself.

Who it fits: SEO teams already on Ahrefs, and anyone who wants to research competitors' AI visibility across a large prompt set. More in LopeBase vs Ahrefs.

Peec AI

Peec AI captures answers from each engine's interface as a logged-out user would see them, daily. Below Enterprise, you pick 3 of ChatGPT, AI Mode, AI Overviews, Copilot, Gemini, and Naver AI, and pay extra for more. Claude, Grok, DeepSeek, and others are on Enterprise. It reports visibility, position, sentiment, sources, objections, and fact checks, with personas, countries, an MCP server on every plan, and an API from Pro.

Starter is $95 a month for 50 prompts, Pro $245 for 150, and Advanced $495 for 350, with about 15% off yearly. Agency plans start at $245 a month and count credits instead. There is a free trial and no free plan.

Who it fits: a marketing team or agency that owns AI search as a channel and wants depth on Google's AI answers. More in LopeBase vs Peec AI.

Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit

Semrush sells AI visibility as its own toolkit at $99 a month per domain, with 25 custom prompts tracked daily, or bundled with its SEO toolkit as Semrush One, from $199 a month with 50 prompts. Its plain SEO plan does not include it. The toolkit also searches Semrush's own database of AI prompts and answers, which it says holds over 317 million, and gives a weekly Brand Performance report with sentiment. Its help center lists ChatGPT, Google AI Mode, and Gemini for prompt tracking; its enterprise product adds engines like Claude and Copilot.

There is no free trial for the toolkit, though Semrush One plans have a 7-day trial, and a free Semrush account includes a basic check of AI mentions and visibility.

Who it fits: teams that already live in Semrush for SEO and want AI answers next to keywords and backlinks. More in LopeBase vs Semrush.

Notra

Notra asks a long list of models daily by default: ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and Perplexity with web search, Google AI Overview from search results, and models from xAI, Moonshot, DeepSeek, Meta, and Z.ai without search. It adds sentiment, personas, multi-turn conversations, languages, crawler logs from your server, an agent readiness score, a writer for articles and changelogs, a REST API, and a large MCP server.

The Free plan covers AI crawler and assistant traffic only. Answer tracking starts at Starter, $100 a month for 2,000 answers and 1 project, then Growth $250 for 6,000 and 3 projects, and Scale $550 for 12,000 and 10 projects. Yearly is ten times the monthly price.

Who it fits: a team that wants many engines, crawler data, and content tools in one dedicated product. More in LopeBase vs Notra.

AthenaHQ

AthenaHQ charges in credits, where one credit is one AI response. Its free Essential plan includes 300 credits on ChatGPT, Perplexity, AI Overviews, Gemini, and Copilot. Starter, at $295 a month or $245 a month yearly, has 3,600 credits and adds AI Mode, Claude, Grok, DeepSeek, Meta AI, and Mistral, with unlimited prompts, competitors, and seats. You set the schedule, from monthly up to every day. It covers citations, sentiment, share of voice, scheduled and Slack reports, Looker Studio, content recommendations, and an MCP server; the API is an add-on on Starter.

Who it fits: a brand that wants many engines and polished reports, at a published price, without going to an enterprise contract.

Profound

Profound captures answers from up to 9 engines' front ends daily on Enterprise, and adds prompt volumes from consumer panels, crawler log analytics, ChatGPT shopping data, and agents that draft and publish content. API, MCP, exports, and single sign-on are on Enterprise.

For brands, it lists a free 7-day trial on 50 prompts it chooses, and custom Enterprise pricing. For agencies, Agency Growth is $99 a month for pitch workspaces, with client workspaces at $399 a month each.

Who it fits: a large brand or agency that needs depth, security reviews, and an account team. More in LopeBase vs Profound.

LopeBase

LopeBase is not a dedicated AI search tool. It is an ops console for people who run several products, and AI visibility is a tab on its SEO page. You keep up to 10 buyer questions per product. LopeBase asks ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini each one through their APIs, without web search, weekly, monthly, or when you press the button. Each check shows the share of answers that mention and recommend you and how each moved since the check before, where you sit in the list, the competitors named and why, the sites the answers point to, answers that get you wrong, and the questions where you are missing, which you can send to the content autopilot as article topics. Every answer is kept in full.

Checks are paid in AI credits, shown before each run: roughly 90 to 240 credits for 10 questions on three engines, where a credit is one cent. Plans include monthly credits: Free 50, Studio $19 with 500, Portfolio $49 with 2,000, and Agency $149 with 8,000, and extra credits are $10 per 1,000. It does not track Perplexity, Copilot, or Google's AI answers, has no sentiment score, crawler logs, or exports for AI visibility, and does not run daily. It does alert you when an engine stops naming you or a competitor overtakes you, counts up to 10 other names you add (a nickname, an old name, a misspelling) as naming you, and can share a read-only link to the latest check.

Who it fits: a founder or small studio with several products who wants a steady reading of what the models know about each one, next to its search data, revenue, and uptime, for the price of the console they already use.

Before any of these, check that AI crawlers can read your site at all with the free AI crawler checker, and see whether you have an llms.txt with the llms.txt checker.

How to choose

Start with where your buyers ask and how often you will act on the numbers, not the longest feature list.

AI search is a channel someone on your team works on every week, and you need daily numbers, live web answers, Google's AI answers, or client reports.

You run several products, want to know whether ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini name each one, and would rather see it beside the rest of each product than pay for another subscription.

What is an AI visibility or GEO tool?

A tool that asks AI assistants like ChatGPT, Gemini, or Perplexity a list of questions on a schedule, and records whether the answers mention your brand, which competitors they name, and which sites they cite. GEO stands for generative engine optimization.

What is the cheapest AI visibility tool?

Among paid daily trackers, Otterly.AI's Lite plan at $29 a month and Ahrefs' $50 prompt package are the lowest published prices we found. LopeBase is free for one property with 50 AI credits a month, enough for a small check, and $19 or $49 a month covers a monthly or weekly check of 10 questions.

Which tools track Claude?

Notra, AthenaHQ on Starter, Ahrefs for custom prompts, Profound on Enterprise, and LopeBase on every plan. Otterly.AI sells it as an add-on, and Peec AI includes it on Enterprise.

Why do tools disagree about the same question?

They ask in different ways. Some capture the answer from the engine's website with live web search, from a set country. Others, like LopeBase, ask the model through its API without search. AI answers also vary from one run to the next, so read trends over several checks rather than one answer.

Do I need daily tracking?

Only if you will act on daily changes. Answers vary from run to run, so a single day says little. A weekly or monthly reading is enough to see whether new pages and mentions are moving you.
